Jee
Eco Efficient Window
RD&I Process and Applications

How does it work
Well planned and rigorously executed, Jee was a successful and award winning RD&I project. Presented in various forums, Jee is being very well accepted among the scientific community and building companies.
The project team met up to prove rigorously the hopeful results found during the first draws, the dynamic thermal modelling simulations and environmental assessment. The project consortium was as follows: Solar Trap - architecture, The Laboratory of Physics and Building Technologies of the University of Minho and SAPA – Building Systems as industrial partner.
But, beside the important scientific verification Jee´s ambition was always the creation of a cost-effective and market driven product, optimized to be produced in series and lead the sector of eco sustainable windows and façade systems. A prototype was built to the laboratory tests. It was daily monitored throughout a four season’s cycle and it confirmed that Jee is an essential technology for a new generation of eco-sustainable windows and façades to the rehabilitation or new buildings. It is also the first system that allows an investment payback, variable between 7 to 9 years (depending on the energy price and local climate conditions)

A study was already made to the remodeling of an ancient hotel into an office building

a complete range of tests were made in a prototype to verify its functioning
